Most of these comments appear on the GenomeWeb Daily Scan website, which in turn highlight interesting blogs that have been posted at numerous sites in the blogosphere since the beginning of 2010. A wide variety of topical subjects are covered ranging from the latest scientific breakthroughs, research trends, politics and career advice. The original blogs and Dr. Pelech’s comments are summarized here under the title of the original blog. The State of Sequencing

It is intriguing that Art Wuster admonishes the Japanese for the reduced needs for DNA sequencing work in their biomedical research programs. The fact of the matter is that there is already a tsunami of DNA sequence data to go around today that could keep researchers busy for many years to come. What is lacking is proper follow up to exploit this information. The Japanese are probably strategically inclined to be more translational and pragmatic in their research and exploit what is already been harvested.
